Teacher Christmas Gift Ideas: A Tote Bag They'll Carry All Term

The Everyday Tote Beach Bag from The Charmé Edit, a canvas tote bag gift idea for teachers

A teacher gift works best when it's practical, thoughtful and doesn't ask anything of them. A canvas tote ticks all three, since it's something they'll actually carry every day. Here's how we'd choose one.

Practical for the School Run

Each of our totes measures 46 x 31 x 15cm and is made from 100% organic cotton canvas, with an inside pocket, an outside pocket and a keychain hook. That fits a 13-inch laptop, a water bottle and everyday essentials, so there's room for a day's books and marking without it feeling bulky.

Keep It Simple and Neutral

If you don't know their taste, the plain Everyday Tote, £38, in Cream White is the easy choice. If you'd like to add a little personality, the Customise your Everyday Tote, from £32, with one or two patches, £3 each, that nod to a subject they teach or something they enjoy, keeps it thoughtful without being over the top.

Add Their Initials

For a more personal gift, the Tennis Bag and Travel Bag, both £48, let you swap the stitched letters for their initials. Because custom letters are made to order, allow extra time before the end of term.

Ordering Before the End of Term

Made-to-order bags need 2 to 5 working days for production before dispatch, plus shipping, while a plain tote is dispatched within 2 to 3 working days. Our guide to ordering for Christmas explains the timings.
