Hen Craft Party in London: How to Plan a Crafty Hen Do

Guests choosing charms from trays at a hosted craft workshop

Hen craft party // London

The hen do where everyone leaves with something they made.

A hen craft party is a hen do built around making something together. With The Charmé Edit, every guest designs a personalised charm phone case or photo frame, hosted at our Canary Wharf space (up to 12 guests) or at your home, Airbnb or venue anywhere in London. We bring every material and run the session, the minimum group is 4, and you should enquire 10 to 21 days ahead so we can order a case for each guest's phone.

A craft party is one of the easiest hen do formats to get right. It works for every age and personality in the group, it keeps everyone around one table, and every hen goes home with something she made. The question is which craft to choose, and how to plan it so it feels like a celebration rather than a class.

What makes a good hen craft activity?

Before you book anything, check it against four things:

  • No skill needed. Nobody wants to feel bad at the hen activity. The best crafts look impressive with very little practice.
  • Everyone finishes. Pick something every guest completes in one sitting, so no one leaves with half a project.
  • It's personal. Each guest should be able to make it their own, so the results all look different.
  • It's useful afterwards. A keepsake that gets used every day beats one that ends up in a drawer.

A charm phone case ticks all four. Guests choose charms, play with layouts and press them into place with our guidance. The case goes on their phone the same day, so the hen do gets remembered every time they pick it up.

Bridal design ideas for the group

  • One palette, different designs: agree a colour story, such as pearl and gold or blush and silver, and let each hen choose her own charms within it.
  • Initials and the big date: use letter charms and number charms for the couple's initials or the wedding date.
  • Make the bride's stand out: tell us when you enquire and we'll plan a special selection for her.
  • Phone case or photo frame: guests who'd rather keep their current case can make a charm photo frame instead.
