Team Building Activities London: Creative Alternatives to the Usual

Escape rooms and quiz nights are the default team building booking for a reason, they're easy to organise and everyone knows what to expect. But if your team has already done the usual rotation, or you want something that gets people actually talking instead of competing, a private charm workshop is worth putting on the shortlist. Here's how it compares to the standard options.

What Actually Makes a Team Building Activity Work

The activities that people still mention months later tend to do three things: get colleagues talking to people outside their usual team, give everyone something to focus on that isn't a screen, and leave the day feeling different from a normal meeting rather than just a meeting with snacks. A lot of the go-to options manage one or two of these but not all three, which is worth thinking about before defaulting to whatever the team booked last time.

The Usual Suspects

Escape rooms are genuinely fun and get people problem-solving together, but the format is competitive rather than conversational, and quieter team members can end up watching rather than participating. Quiz nights are low-effort to organise and popular, though they tend to split a big team into small competing tables rather than mixing people together. Cooking classes give everyone something to make, but the pace is often rushed and there's rarely much left to take back to the office afterward. Pub golf or crazy golf outings are sociable, but they're built around a bar crawl format that doesn't suit every team or every budget.

Why a Private Charm Workshop Stands Out for Teams

A charm workshop is naturally mixing rather than competitive, colleagues end up comparing charm choices and helping each other with layouts across the whole table, not split into rival teams. It's paced slowly enough for real conversation to happen alongside it, rather than rushing through steps against a clock. And everyone leaves with something they made themselves sitting on their desk or in their pocket afterward, a genuinely different souvenir from a shared trophy or a group photo that gets buried in a Slack channel.

What a Charm Team Building Session Looks Like at The Charmé Edit

Each colleague chooses between DIY charm phone case making or DIY charm photo frame making, picking their own combination from our charms collection, so the finished table looks genuinely varied rather than a uniform corporate giveaway. We host from our space in Canary Wharf, London, comfortably fitting up to 12 people, or we'll bring everything to your office anywhere in London for an additional fee based on distance. Light snacks and hot drinks are included, and we guide the whole session, so no prior experience or creative confidence is needed from anyone in the room.

Booking Your Team Building Workshop

We ask for a minimum of 4 people, and ideally 7 to 14 days' notice so we can confirm availability and prepare materials for your group. Every booking gets a custom quote based on headcount, location, and which activities you choose. To start, use the enquiry form on our private events page, or email support@thecharmeedit.com with your date, headcount, and location.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this suitable for a large office rather than a small team?

There's no maximum group size when we travel to your own office, so it works for anything from a small team to a full department. Our Canary Wharf space fits up to 12 if you'd rather host there instead.

Do colleagues need any creative experience?

No. We guide the whole session, so it works whether the team is generally crafty or nobody's done anything like it before.

Can this run during a normal working day at our office?

Yes, we travel to offices across London and set everything up on site, so it can slot into a working day rather than needing an evening or weekend booking.

How far in advance should we book?

Ideally 7 to 14 days ahead, so we can confirm availability and prepare materials for your headcount.
